  1. Q: How was Barks n Purrs started?

A: I came to Toronto in pursuit of something new. When I arrived I worked for another wonderful dog walking company that showed me everything I needed to know about the business. Along the way I realized there was a demand in the community for high quality, detail-oriented, and reliable pet care at reasonable rates. Also as a lifelong pet owner, I fully understand the needs of humans and their beloved pets.

  2. Q: How are you different from other Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers?

A: Barks n Purrs offers a reliable, caring service that you can depend on. We take our responsibility very seriously and care for your pets as if they are our own. Unlike other Pet Care providers, this is not a part time or second job for me, this is all I do. So you can be assured you are getting the highest quality pet care available.

  3. Q: Are you and your staff insured and bonded

A: Yes, all of our Pet Care Specialists are insured and bonded by Horizon Insurance. Proof is available upon request.

  4. Q: How many Pet Care Specialists will be looking after my pet?

A: We assign one primary pet care specialist who will meet you and your pet at the free consultation. This person will care for your pet the entire time you are away. For regular daily dog walking we assign a primary and secondary pet care specialist so your dog can count on consistent walks.

  5. Q: How will I know if you have walked my dog?

A: Your dog walker will leave a daily log in your home that includes the time the walk took place and any comments regarding your pet. That way you can be certain you are receiving the reliable pet care you and your pet deserve.

  6. Q: How do you determine if a dog is suitable or group outings?

A: Most people have a fair idea of how socialized their dog is, however it is important to get an objective assessment. During our initial visit, we will ask a lot of questions about your dog’s behaviour and history. We are looking for behaviours that will tell us how able and willing your dog is to learn and adjust to new situations. No dog is perfect: and most dogs will benefit immensely from socialization and outings.

  7. Q: What are the pickup and return arrangements?

A: Pick up and returns are done depending on the schedule that we have arranged in our initial visit. Because we are fully bonded and insured, we are able to pick up and return each dog whether or not the owner is home. Your dog will be returned home safe, sound, and tired. Due to unforeseen weather, broken elevators or just having too much fun with his friends, please keep in mind that there is a half hour window for pick-ups and drop-offs.

  8. Q: Is there a minimum number of outings we need to enrol our dog in?

A: Yes, we have a minimum of at least once a week. This does not mean it has to be the same day or time, however the more consistent the schedule is, the better it is for the dog.

  9. Q: Do you charge more for holidays?

A: Yes we charge an extra 15% on all paid/unpaid holidays in Ontario.

  10. Q: Are there any other hidden charges that I should be aware of?

A: While some pet care providers charge extra for such things as key return, pet pick-up, and administering medications, etc….we don’t. We’re not here to nickel and dime you.

  11. Q: How do we pay you? When do you require payment?

A: For three or more walks a week, we will invoice you on the 15th, and 30th of every month. For clients that are less than two walks a week, we invoice you at the end of the month. For cat clients, we invoice you at the end of the month.

  12. Q: Do you work weekends, and holidays?

A: Yes, with notice, Barks n Purrs walkers will work every day of the year.

  13. Q: How do we set up the key exchange?

A: When we arrive for our initial consultation, we ask that you have a set of keys and fob available for your building. If your building allows you to leave keys at security, this is also acceptable.
